CCPA Fines Rapido ₹10 Lakh for Dark Patterns in Tipping Prompts
The Central Consumer Protection Authority penalized ride-hailing platform Rapido ₹10 lakh for employing dark patterns, specifically Confirm Shaming and Interface Interference, to coerce passengers into paying extra tips before ride confirmation. Banks Face 15-20 bps Cost Escalation on FCNR(B) Deposits
Indian banks are projected to incur an additional 15-20 basis points cost on Foreign Currency Non-Resident (Bank) deposits because the RBI does not absorb hedging costs on the interest payment component. Banks carrying $127 billion in total FCNR(B) deposits must independently hedge dollar-denominated interest payouts via currency forwards and swaps, with forward premiums climbing amid RBI’s rupee-defense operations. Unlike NRE/NRO accounts, the exchange rate risk on FCNR(B) principal is borne by the bank, not the depositor.
