- The Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) conducted by NSO, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, reveals an increasing trend in Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR), reaching a six-month high of 55.4% in October 2025.
- Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, met with New Zealand’s Trade Minister Todd McClay in Mumbai to advance negotiations on a balanced, comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
- The 67th EC meeting of NMCG, chaired by Director General Shri Rajeev Kumar Mital, approved key research projects integrating cutting-edge science, AI, and hydrological modelling for river restoration and pollution abatement.
IMPORTANT CIRCULARS
- The RBI has fixed ₹12,476 per gram as the premature redemption price for the SGB 2020-21 Series-VIII due on November 18, 2025.
INDUSTRY NEWS
- The Government of India has approved new projects worth Rs 7,172 crore under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), signalling a strategic move to deepen India’s domestic electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
- NTPC is actively identifying locations and planning new nuclear power projects with capacities ranging from 700 MW to 1600 MW as part of its energy expansion strategy.
- India has signed its first structured, one-year deal to import around 2.2 million tonnes per annum of LPG from the US Gulf Coast, covering nearly 10% of India’s annual LPG imports in 2026.
- India’s coal imports increased by 13.54% to 22.05 million tonnes in September 2025, driven by strong demand from power and industrial sectors.
FINANCIAL NEWS
- Bank credit growth decelerated to 11.3% year-on-year in October 2025, while deposits grew at 9.7%, reducing the gap between credit and deposit growth according to RBI data.
- Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s leading SUV manufacturer, plans to enter the life insurance market via a 50:50 joint venture with Canada-based Manulife, with planned investments totalling Rs 7,200 crore over five years.
- India’s exports contracted by 11.8% year-on-year to $34.38 billion in October 2025, while the trade deficit reached a record $41.68 billion, largely due to surging gold imports.
- The President of India released the report of the 16th Finance Commission outlining fiscal transfers and recommendations for the period 2026-31.
- India’s GDP growth for the second quarter of 2025-26 is forecasted at 7.3%, driven by rural economic activity and increased government capital expenditure.

- Uttar Pradesh government plans to establish 75,000 new food processing units to double the state’s processing capacity and boost agricultural value addition.
- Andhra Pradesh states an investment commitment of ₹21,000 crore for renewable energy and green hydrogen projects announced during the CII summit for renewables and green energy.
- Ambaji White Marble from Gujarat received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag, recognising its unique characteristics and origin.
