PIB NEWS

- The annual rate of inflation based on the All India Wholesale Price Index (WPI) stood at 0.13% (provisional) for September 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, reflecting a slight increase in the prices of manufactured food products, non-food articles, transport equipment, and textiles.
INDUSTRY NEWS
- LT Foods has signed an agreement to acquire a 100% stake in Hungary-based Global Green Europe Kft., expanding its presence in the European processed and canned food market.
- India has added 4.9 GW of rooftop solar capacity under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, reaching just 13% of the scheme’s installation target, with subsidy releases also lagging.
- KEC International won a Rs. 1,064 crore contract to design, supply, and install a 380 kV transmission line in Saudi Arabia, reinforcing its position in the Middle East market.
- India’s ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) aims to boost mariculture production to 25 million tonnes by 2047, up from the current 1.5 lakh tonnes, to meet surging seafood demand.
FINANCIAL NEWS
- HSBC India has introduced Digital Merchant Services (DMS), a digital payment management solution to streamline payment processes for e-commerce merchants by consolidating multiple payment methods into a single platform.
- NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) has partnered with NTT DATA Japan to enable Unified Payments Interface (UPI) acceptance at merchant locations in Japan, catering primarily to Indian tourists.
- The Reserve Bank of India has allowed Indian banks and their overseas branches to lend in Indian Rupees to residents and banks in Bhutan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka to ease cross-border trade, alongside extending repatriation timelines for export proceeds in foreign currency accounts.
- India’s net direct tax revenue has grown by 6.33% to over Rs 11.89 lakh crore by October 12, driven mainly by higher corporate tax collections and slower refunds, with a projection of Rs 25.20 lakh crore for FY 2025-26.
NATIONAL & STATES NEWS
- The Andhra Pradesh government will sign an agreement with Google to develop a one gigawatt (GW) hyperscale AI data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, marking Google’s largest investment in India and a major step toward establishing India’s first AI hub.
- India’s female labour force participation rate has increased significantly from 23% in 2017-18 to around 42% in 2023-24, reflecting enhanced women’s economic inclusion driven by targeted policies and skill development initiatives.
- The Assam government has launched the Chief Minister’s Foreign Languages Initiative for Global Human Talent (CM-FLIGHT) to train youth in Japanese language and skills for global employment, particularly targeting job opportunities in Japan.
- The Government of Meghalaya has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NorthEast United Football Club (NEUFC) to promote Shillong as the ‘Football Capital of India,’ develop grassroots football talent, generate employment, and boost sports tourism.
- The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced the Vishwas Scheme to resolve long-pending disputes related to penal damages for delayed PF remittances by rationalising the penalty rate to a flat 1% per month.

- Israel will confer its highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Honour, on US President Donald Trump in recognition of his efforts in securing the release of hostages and helping to end the Israel-Hamas conflict.
- The Maldives is the first country in the world to achieve the elimination of mother-to-child transmission (EMTCT) of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B, a major public health milestone validated by the World Health Organization (WHO).
