PIB NEWS
- DPIIT under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has signed an MoU with Kotak Mahindra Bank to provide enhanced financial and non-financial support for startups across India through customised banking solutions, funding, and capacity building.
- The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) chaired by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh approved proposals worth around Rs 79,000 crore for procurement of advanced weapons and systems enhancing the operational capabilities of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
- Shri Tarun Kumar Pithode, IAS (2009 batch, Madhya Pradesh cadre), has taken charge as the full-time Member Secretary of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and adjoining areas, for a tenure of five years.
- The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) held a curtain raiser for ESTIC 2025, emphasising artificial intelligence (AI) for social impact as a key driver for India’s development and inclusive growth.
- The Ministry of Rural Development’s flagship programme, DAY-NRLM, has mobilized over 10.05 crore rural households into Self Help Groups (SHGs), empowering women through financial inclusion, sustainable livelihoods, and entrepreneurship across India.
- IIT Madras has expanded its strategic partnership with Applied Materials India to deploy advanced digital twin technology for semiconductor research and workforce development, supporting India’s mission to become a global hub for chip manufacturing.
INDUSTRY NEWS
- India’s coal stockpile at power plants rose by 31% to 44.7 million tonnes, supported by higher supplies, a strong pre-monsoon base, and moderate power demand during summer months.
- Vedanta Group announced a Rs 1 lakh crore investment plan in Odisha to expand its metal and mining operations, strengthening the state’s industrial infrastructure and employment base.
- Indian leather exports are projected to decline by 10–12% in FY26 due to high US tariff rates that reduce competitiveness and slow global demand.
- The Reserve Bank of India reported that digital payments contributed to 99.7% of the total transaction volume in India during 2024, marking a remarkable digital finance milestone.
FINANCIAL NEWS
- The State Bank of India (SBI) has been honoured with Global Finance’s prestigious awards as the ‘World’s Best Consumer Bank 2025’ and ‘Best Bank in India 2025’ for excellence in innovation, financial inclusion, and customer service.
- From November 1, 2025, depositors in India can assign up to four nominees for their bank accounts, lockers, and safe custody articles, with options for simultaneous or successive nominations to simplify and expedite claim settlement.
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has proposed mandating a Unique Transaction Identifier (UTI) for all Over-the-Counter (OTC) derivative trades involving rupee interest rate derivatives, government securities, foreign currency derivatives, and credit derivatives from April 1, 2026.
- The Reserve Bank of India’s gold reserves crossed 880 metric tonnes by the end of September 2025, valued at USD 95 billion, marking a steady increase driven by global uncertainty and rising gold demand.
- Deloitte India projects a GDP growth of 6.7 to 6.9 percent for India in fiscal year 2025-26, driven by strong domestic demand, structural reforms, and accommodative monetary policy.
- The government securities (G-Sec) market in India grew significantly from ₹769 lakh crore in 2019 to ₹1,812 lakh crore in 2024, accompanied by increased transaction volumes, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Payment Systems Report.

- Chennai has become the first Indian city to operate a Real-Time Flood Forecasting and Spatial Decision Support System (RTFF & SDSS) to aid urban flood prediction and disaster management.
- Kerala will officially declare itself as India’s first “extreme poverty-free” state on November 1, 2025, after a successful multi-sectoral initiative to uplift extremely poor families.
