Dangerous turn: On Trump and the Ukraine war
President Trump recently said he had sent two nuclear submarines to key locations, responding to aggressive comments from Russia’s former President Medvedev. This has increased tension between the U.S. and Russia. Trump earlier tried to resolve the Ukraine war by pressuring both sides into a ceasefire and even promised that Ukraine would not join NATO. But Russia only agreed to a temporary pause in one region. The U.S. and Russia disagree on how to end the war — the West wants a quick ceasefire, while Russia wants a bigger peace deal that protects its security. Also, Russia now feels stronger on the battlefield and sees no reason to slow down. Adding to the problem, Trump’s recent bombing of Iran, despite ongoing talks, made Russia harder to negotiate with. Instead of threats and nuclear warnings, Trump should go back to diplomacy and work to find a middle ground between Western and Russian positions.

Bullying tactics: On India pushing back against the U.S., the EU
India has finally spoken out against unfair trade actions by the U.S. and the EU. After being silent for months, India’s government strongly responded to new U.S. tariffs and EU sanctions over India’s purchase of Russian oil. The government called these actions unfair, especially since both the U.S. and EU still trade with Russia. India argued that its oil purchases from Russia are necessary due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. The U.S. had even earlier supported this move to help global markets. India said it will protect its national interests and will not let other countries decide who it can trade with. This marks a firm stand by India, especially as tensions rise over trade, immigration, and other issues. India’s leaders are also strengthening ties with Russia, showing that their foreign policy is based on national priorities, not pressure from others.

The age of Shubhman Gill is here
Indian cricket may be entering a new era under Shubman Gill’s leadership. Like past iconic moments involving legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Kapil Dev, India’s recent drawn Test series in England could be remembered as the start of something great. The team was full of doubts—an untested captain, young batters, injured bowlers—but they showed strong spirit and teamwork. Gill not only led well but also scored heavily. Players like Rishabh Pant, Sai Sudharsan, and Mohammed Siraj made valuable contributions. Though challenges remain, such as fitness and refining strategies, the team looks promising. With a mix of experience and youth, and a determined coach in Gautam Gambhir, Indian cricket seems ready for a bright future. The age of Gill has truly begun.

AI may make doctors more important than nurses
It’s about time Throughout history, people have made tools, and those tools have changed how we live and think. In recent times, machines like AI can do complex tasks such as remembering and analysing data. This could change how we see different jobs. While AI may replace some professional roles like doctors, it may not replace nurses or people doing hands-on work that involves care and emotion. As jobs like teaching, nursing, and caregiving become harder to automate, they may become more respected and valuable. In the future, these roles might even form a new group of elite professionals. This change is overdue
