The United Nations declared 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives under the theme “Cooperatives Build a Better World” to address global challenges, while the Ministry of Cooperation in India has implemented comprehensive reforms to strengthen Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), expand cooperative coverage, enhance digital integration, and promote economic vibrancy across sectors like dairy, fisheries, and exports in alignment with the vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi”.

Three Indian entrepreneurs launched LNK Energy, a next-generation integrated clean energy platform with ₹10,000 crore investment over five years, at World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026, beginning operations with a 6 GW solar manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra.
Brazil and Nigeria have emerged as fast-growing export destinations for Indian pharmaceuticals amid global uncertainties, with Nigeria adding USD 179 million (14% of total growth) and Brazil USD 100 million during April-November FY26, as India’s pharma exports rose 6.5% to USD 20.48 billion.

Swiss Re forecasts India’s insurance premiums to grow at 6.9% annually during 2026-2030, fastest among major markets surpassing China’s 4% and US’s 2%, driven by 6.5% GDP growth, regulatory reforms, GST simplification, and rising health/motor insurance demand.
The International Monetary Fund revised India’s 2026–27 GDP growth forecast upwards by 20 basis points to 6.4 per cent from its October 2025 projection while raising the FY26 forecast to 7.3 per cent citing better-than-expected Q3 performance and strong Q4 momentum despite global trade risks.
The Reserve Bank of India has proposed linking the central bank digital currencies of Brics countries to facilitate cross-border trade and tourism payments which could reduce reliance on the US dollar as the summit hosted by India approaches later this year.
The Reserve Bank asked HDFC Bank to make additional one-time standard provision of Rs 500 crore for misclassification of certain agri-sector loans as priority sector lending while ICICI Bank was directed to provide Rs 1,283 crore for similar regulatory compliance issues.
